More holidays on the cards?

The Government is intending to increase the statutory annual leave entitlement from 1 October 2007, the reason being that they are concerned that many employers make bank holidays a part of the current annual leave entitlement of 20 days.

The proposal will see the number of days increased from 20 to 24, with effect from October 2007 (pro-rata for part-time employees) and further increases are being looked at with the
possibility of a further increase to 26 then 28 days in October 2008 and 2009 respectively.
